Thank you to everyone who has used the hall during 2022.

The Memorial Hall Management Committee invite all village residents to our Annual General Meeting, on Tuesday 15th March, at.. guess where?

The management committee is a group of village residents who want our Hall to continue being the EXCELLENT facility that hosted the wonderful Big Breakfast last Saturday.

It doesn’t run itself! We need help!

Big Charity Breakfast 2022

We meet a maximum of once a month, usually on the third Tuesday evening. We always need new committee members. Please come along to hear about our past year, and please offer to join us on the management committee, if you can. Here’s the Agenda:

Clarification of Covid Rules At Packington Memorial Hall

Further to the Government’s announcement earlier this week the hall committee have reviewed the guidance published as of today and wish to advise all visitors to the hall of the following:

  • It is now mandatory to wear a face mask in community centres/village halls except when the main activity its eating, drinking, exercising, or dancing.
  • It will be the responsibility of the hiring party to decide if their primary purpose of hire falls inside these categories and advise their attendees accordingly.
  • We recommend all hirers make regular checks on government link below as it seems to be updating continually (three times in the last 48 hours) with further advice and clarifications being published while the media and other bodies pose questions to the government.
  • Anti-bacterial cleaning products, hand sanitiser etc will continue to be made available at the hall for your use.

Thank you for your understanding on this matter, please follow the link below to the government guides on face coverings.

COVID-19 Dec ‘21 Update

Please be advised that following the UK Governments briefing this evening, 8th December ‘21, we will be taking time to review the latest guidance once published in writing and then update our customers.

Thank you for your patience, PMH Committee

Temporary Closure

Dear all

With the current situation regarding the COVID-19 virus pandemic, and the recent advice from the UK Government, the trustees of the Packington Memorial Hall have taken the decision to close the hall until further notice.

The trustees have not made this decision lightly, however slowing the spread of the virus, particularly to those vulnerable members of our community is our highest concern, and we believe that temporarily removing this communal area will help in this regard.

The hall will of course reopen as soon as the advice from the government changes.

In addition the AGM that was scheduled for tomorrow is also cancelled until further notice.

We thank you sincerely for your understanding.

PMHV Travels in Time

A brand new feature of google maps allows people to see the street view at different periods in time. We have been very fortunate that the car taking the pictures went through Packington in 2009, as the hall was being re-built. So now we can see the hall being reconstructed into the modern events venue that it is today:

Not only is the building work visible but a closer look at the picture shows the original sign from the 1959 building that was kept and is now incorporated into the main entrance of the new hall, just look up when going through the front doors.

We’re very fortunate that this year has seen further expansion of the hall to create a new storage area for equipment which will allow for more village events to take place, this is scheduled for completion in the coming weeks.

Extension Work Begins

This week has seen the start of work on a new extension to the existing hall building, this will create a storage area where equipment may be safely & securely kept for a number of the regular events that takes place in the hall. The building work is scheduled to take until the end of August.
